CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A steal and breakaway dunk from Jordan Williams early in the second half had Charlotte on the ropes, but the 49ers came alive to down NT, 73-57, at Halton Arena.

At the moment of Williams’s dunk, North Texas (7-9, 1-3 C-USA) was on top, 30-24, just 3:11 into the second half, and it appeared as if North Texas (7-9, 1-3 C-USA) had solved the 49ers (8-8, 2-2 C-USA) with a snarling defensive effort. NT had already picked up a season-high 12 of their eventual 14 steals just three minutes into the second half, and was holding Charlotte to 38.1 percent shooting.

That’s when a trio of technical fouls called on NT ignited the 49ers. Charlotte hit seven free throws in a 16-2 run, which they eventually stretched into 31-8. After the Williams dunk, Charlotte out-scored NT by 22 points for the remainder of the game.

As always, Pierria Henry was the catalyst for the 49ers. The senior finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Williams led the Mean Green scoring efforts with 15 points, while Jeremy Combs tallied his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
