Official activities begin for Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl

Fort Worth, Texas, December 14, 2010 – The coaches from Army and SMU met here Tuesday for a media gathering as the “official” activities for the 2010 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl began later in the afternoon with a kickoff function at the sponsor’s Customer Center at Alliance Airport.

Army’s Rich Ellerson and SMU’s June Jones will lead the Black Knights and the Mustangs into the first-ever post-season bowl game between the two schools on Thursday, December 30 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas where a sellout crowd will on hand for the contest to be aired live by ESPN Television and Radio with an 11 a.m. (CST) kickoff.

“We are extremely fortunate to have both the SMU Mustangs and the Army Black Knights in the eighth annual Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl,” said Brant Ringler, the Executive Director of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl.  “Both programs are on the rise with very contrasting styles of play and we expect a great game at Ford Stadium.  We are also very fortunate of have one of our military academies in our game for the fourth consecutive year as we honor along with the tremendous assistance of Bell Helicopter all of our service men and women.”
