Oklahoma State starting quarterback J.W. Walsh is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks after having surgery Thursday.

The school had yet to release any information on Walsh’s condition but numerous reports out of Stillwater, Okla., confirmed Walsh had surgery on his lower leg or ankle.

Walsh was injured in OSU’s win over Missouri State on Saturday. He had X-rays and remained on crutches after leaving late in the second quarter of the game.

Earlier in the week, head coach Mike Gundy said Walsh would be re-evaluated.

Daxx Garman replaced Walsh against Missouri State and was 16-for-26 for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cowboys play UT-San Antonio on Saturday.
