DENTON, Texas – In a wild game befitting two regional soccer powers, it was Oklahoma State that had the answer against North Texas in the 93rd minute for the game winner in overtime, 2-1.

Krissi Killion’s strike for OSU (4-2-3) from 22-yards out ended a contest that featured 52 combined fouls, nine yellow cards and two reds. All 11 cards came out in the second half.

“It was the most physical game that I’ve ever been a part of,” said North Texas forward Rachel Holden.

Holden, the reigning C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, provided the Mean Green (6-3-0) tally in the 65th minute when her toe poke from 10-yards out found the right corner of the net. The strike was the freshman’s 10 of the year, which is just one behind Conference USA leader Danica Roberts of Southern Miss.

“It’s disappointing losing this game in overtime,” said North Texas head coach John Hedlund. “We all thought we had the game won in regulation, but unfortunately the linesman called a foul on Vanessa [Ibewuike, on the scoring play]. Nevertheless, I’m proud of my girls. They battled all night, and the way this game ended really stings.”

With five minutes remaining on the first half clock, OSU’s Allie Stephenson sparked a Cowgirl run that would see North Texas’ lengthy shutout streak come to an end. Stephenson connected on a shot from the top of the box that found the upper left corner of the net, which snapped NT’s shutout streak at 422:62 – the second longest shutout streak in NT history.
