The quarterfinal round begins Friday at the Dallas Tennis Classic, held at the Four Seasons Resort in Irving.  The Dallas Tennis Classic is an ATP Challenger Tour event used by many players as a warm-up event for the prestigious Sony Open tournament, a Masters 1000 event in Miami.

Second round winners on Thursday included Denis Kudla, an American who came up through the tournament qualifying rounds.   Kudla will face fellow American Bobby Reynolds.

Another qualifier, Olivier Rochus will face wildcard Philipp Petzschner.  A third qualifier to advance to the quarterfinal round, Illya Marchenko, will play against compatriot Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine.

The highest remaining seeded players, No. 3 Denis Istomin, and No. 5 Jurgen Melzer round out the quarterfinals.

In a Doubles quarterfinal match, Gilles Muller and Simon Stadler will face Johan Brunstrom and Raven Klaasen.  Another quarterfinal matchup features Andre Begemann/Martin Emmrich vs Eric Butorac/Dominic Inglot.

The premier Doubles match of the day is a semi-final match between Jurgen Melzer/Philipp Petzschner and Edouard Roger-Vasselin/Igor Sijsling.

The event is sanctioned by the ATP, the principal organizer of the men’s professional tennis tour. The Dallas Tennis Classic has the highest level of prize money on the ATP Challenger Tour, plus hospitality. The tournament enjoys an exception from other challenger events, in that players positioned 11-50 in the ATP rankings are allowed to enter, and those ranked top-10 in the world are allowed to receive a Wild Card to compete for a prize money purse of $125,000. The event features a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw.
