Rangers Acquire RHP Greg Reynolds

Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced tonight that the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Greg Reynolds from Colorado in exchange for infielder Chad Tracy. Reynolds has been assigned to Round Rock (AAA).

Reynolds, 26, was selected second overall by Colorado in the 2006 MLB First-Year Player Draft. He had 5 separate stints in the majors last season, going 3-0 with a 6.19 ERA (22 ER/32.0 IP) in 13 games/3 starts for Colorado. He spent the rest of the season at Colorado Springs (AAA), going 6-7 with a 6.81 ERA (83 ER/109.2 IP) in 19 games/starts. His only other big league action came in 2008, when he had 14 appearances/13 starts for the Rockies. Overall in his major league career, Reynolds is 5-8 with a 7.47 ERA (78 ER/94.0 IP) in 27 games/16 starts. He was outrighted off the Rockies 40-man roster on Oct. 5.

A native of Pacifica, Calif., Reynolds was drafted out of Stanford University.

Tracy, 26, spent the entire 2011 campaign with Triple-A Round Rock. The Pepperdine University product batted .259 (136-526) and led the Express in both home runs (26) and RBI (109), with his RBI total establishing a new single-season Round Rock record, surpassing Mike Coolbaugh’s previous franchise high of 101 in 2006. Tracy, a third round selection in the 2006 June draft, was a non-roster invitee in spring training each of the past two seasons. His father, Jim, is currently the manger of the Rockies.
