For the first time since the opening week, the Texas Rangers are not in sole possession of first place in the American League West. The red-hot Oakland A’s beat the Rangers 3-1 Tuesday night to move into a tie with the Rangers for the division.
Oakland has been on fire since the All-Star break, after trailing Texas by as many as 13 games. The A’s have won 5 in a row, and 32 of their last 45 games.
The Rangers offense has gone into their October slump. They were held to just 5 hits Tuesday but were struck out 7 times by the A’s pitchers.
Texas starter Matt Harrison allowed 6 hits in the loss.
Ryan Dempster will be on the mound for the Rangers in a showdown with A’s pitcher A.J. Griffin. First pitch is at 2:35pm.
