Rangers announce new pricing and in-game initiatives

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas Rangers today announced a series of pricing and in-game initiatives at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington designed to enhance fan experience.

The initiatives have been implemented with the Thursday announcement that Rangers Baseball Express, the investor group led by Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan, has completed its purchase to become the sixth ownership group in Rangers history.

“On behalf of Nolan Ryan and our entire group, I want to say how proud we are to assume the ownership of the Texas Rangers,” commented Greenberg, who announced the new initiatives at an afternoon press conference. “This franchise belongs to our fans, and we wanted to show our appreciation for their loyalty and support by implementing these initiatives immediately.”

In addition, additions and enhancements will begin to be made to the game presentation beginning with Friday’s game. These will include t-shirts being thrown into the stands on all levels of Rangers Ballpark, adding ball and strike counts to concourse monitors, reinstituting radio play-by-play sound on the concourses, and new elements on the scoreboards, video boards, and in the seating bowl. Fans will be greeted in the parking lots by attendants wearing Rangers “Smiley Faces” t-shirts.

“We are committed to providing the ultimate fan experience, and we welcome the input of our fans on how to do this,” said Greenberg. “Today is just the beginning of that process.”

Greenberg will be the Managing Partner and CEO of the Rangers while Ryan will continue as President of the club. Ray Davis of Dallas and Bob Simpson of Fort Worth will serve as co-chairmen of the Board of Directors of the 18-person investor group, which received unanimous approval by Major League Baseball’s owners as Thursday’s quarterly MLB meeting in Minneapolis.

Greenberg and Ryan will participate in a special first pitch ceremony prior to Saturday night’s game with the Red Sox.
