Rangers Hold Open Tryouts

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Texas Rangers, through the local support of the Round Rock Express and Orthopaedic Associates of Central Texas, will conduct an open tryout camp for prospective professional baseball players to be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at The Dell Diamond, the home of its top-affiliate, it was announced today. Non-drafted, non-contracted individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 are eligible to participate in the one-day tryout. Position players are to report at 8 a.m. and pitchers at noon. The public is invited to attend.

Prior to the event, representatives from Orthopaedic Associates of Central Texas (OACT) will address the participants on vital athletic preparedness, particularly baseball throwing programs, as well as injury management. OACT has been the official sports medicine provider of the Express for seven seasons, working with its professional players and training staff on player injuries, recovery and rehabilitation.

Members of the Rangers scouting department will be present at the

tryout to evaluate participants based upon Major League standards. Overall skills tests such as 60-yard dash, agility, hitting ability and arm strength from shortstop, outfield, catcher and pitcher positions will be administered. Participants are responsible for their own equipment and should come dressed in baseball attire. Baseballs will be furnished.

All interested individuals are directed to pre-register at www.RoundRockExpress.com. American Legion players must provide a letter from their coach or post commander granting permission to attend the tryout camp. All entrants must sign an injury waiver to participate.
