The Texas Rangers could not stop the onslaught of Albert Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday night in a 16-7 loss in Game 3 of the World Series.
Pujols joined Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson as the only players in Major League history with 3 home runs in a single World Series game.
The Texas bullpen gave up 11 runs, equal to their total in the entire playoffs. Starter Matt Harrison could only last 3 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs.
The Rangers were able to put some runs on the board also, generating 7 runs on 13 hits. Michael Young and Nelson Cruz each hit home runs for Texas, and Adrian Beltre went 4-for-5 at the plate.
The Rangers now trail the Cardinals 2 games to 1 in the Series. Game 4 is tonight at the Ballpark in Arlington. First pitch is at 7:05pm.
