Rangers Lose In 10

The Texas Rangers’ magic number stands at 5 after a 3-2 loss to the Oakland A’s in 10 innings Tuesday night at the Ballpark.  The Rangers lead over the A’s for the AL West title drops to 4 games with 8 left to play.

Scheduled starter Yu Darvish was scratched from the game due to a stiff neck, leading manager Ron Washington to start Scott Feldman instead.  Feldman went 4 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits.  Michael Kirkman, Koji Uehara, and Alexi Ogando held the A’s scoreless for the next 5 innings.  Mark Lowe gave up a leadoff home run in the 10th inning that turned out to be the game-winner.

The Rangers scored their only runs early.  The first 3 batters all singled, with Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus scoring on Josh Hamilton’s single.  Texas could only muster another 4 hits spread out among the next 9 innings.

Texas and Oakland will play the third game of the four-game series tonight in Arlington.  Rookie left-hander Martin Perez is scheduled to get the start for the Rangers.
