Rangers lose in 13 innings

The Texas Rangers lost the first game of a series with Oakland 7-6 in 13 innings.  Texas began the first of 6 lead changes with a 2-0 advantage by the end of the 4th.  The Rangers led 4-3 in the 9th when manager Ron Washington called for Darren Oliver to start the inning instead of Neftali Feliz, who had saved 7 consecutive games.  By the end of the inning, Oakland led 5-4.

The game went back and forth with Oakland taking the lead and the Rangers fighting back.  Finally, in the 13th, the Rangers fell short.

David Murphy and Josh Hamilton both hit home runs for Texas.

Oakland is now tied with Texas for the lead in the AL West.
