Rangers Lose In Boston

The Texas Rangers gave up 8 runs in the 4th inning to the Boston Red Sox Saturday in Fenway Park.  They went on to lose 12-7.

Starting pitcher Colby Lewis wasted a 3-run lead by giving up 4 runs in just 3 1/3 innings.  Yoshi Tateyama was even worse in relief, as he faced 5 batters and 4 of them scored. The biggest damage came on a grand slam by Carl Crawford.  Merkin Valdez gave up another run before the Rangers could finally get out of the inning.

The bullpen problems continued in the 6th inning as Mark Hamburger gave up 3 more runs.

The Rangers tried to rally late in the game, scoring 3 runs in the 8th and another in the 9th, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Elvis Andrus, Josh Hamilton, and Michael Young all had multiple hits for Texas.  Pinch hitter Esteban German hit a solo home run in the 9th for the Rangers.

Texas and Boston close out the series Sunday afternoon at Fenway.
