Rangers Lose In Detroit

The Texas Rangers had an overall miserable night in Detroit.  Playing through intermittent rain, Texas found themselves down 5-2 going into the 8th inning.  The Rangers were able to tie the game with home runs by Nelson Cruz and Mike Napoili.  Manager Ron Washington went to his newly-acquired reliever, Mike Adams, for his Rangers debut.   Adams got Austin Jackson to fly out, but Brennen Boesch put the Tigers ahead with a home run to right field.  Detroit wins 6-5.

Texas starting pitcher Colby Lewis managed just 4 innings, as he gave up 5 runs on 10 hits.  Yoshinori Tateyama and Darren Oliver combined for 3 scoreless innings before Adams allowed the home run to earn the loss.

The 8th inning home runs by Cruz and Napoli were the only sparks shown by the Rangers offense on the night.

In the field, the Rangers committed 3 more errors, giving them 17 in the last 13 games.  They are 5-8 in that stretch.

Texas is now just 1 game ahead of the Angels in the AL West.  They continue their series in Detroit tonight.
