Rangers Lose In KC

The Texas Rangers could not hold an early lead as they fell to the Kansas City Royals 6-3 on Tuesday night.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus hit a home run in the first inning to put the Rangers up 1-0.  That lead was soon increased to 2-0 when Mitch Moreland doubled in Geovany Soto in the 2nd.  Moreland was picked off as he tried to stretch the hit to third to end the Rangers attack.

The Royals were able to tie the game by the third inning and extend it throughout the game.  Texas was unable to find any more offense until the 9th inning when Josh Hamilton scored on a Michael Young sacrifice.

Rangers starter Matt Harrison could only go 4 2/3 innings as he was burned for his 9th loss of the season against 15 wins.  Harrison allowed 5 runs on 8 hits.

Texas will put Ryan Dempster on the mound for tonight’s game against the Royals.  The Rangers still hold a 4-game lead in the AL West.
