The Texas Rangers could not hold a 2-run lead as the red-hot Angels came from behind to win 4-2 Friday night at Los Angeles. The Angels, who have won 9 of their last 10 games, move within 4 1/2 games of the struggling Rangers.
Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis is credited with the loss, though he only gave up 2 earned runs. A hit batter in the 7th, followed by an Ian Kinsler error, gave the Angels the lead. Lewis went 6 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 5.
Texas could only manage 8 scattered hits in the game. Angels pitcher Jerome Williams held the Rangers at bay for 7 innings to earn his 6th season win.
The Rangers will put Yu Darvish on the mound for game 2 tonight against C.J. Wilson. Gametime is 9:05pm Central.
