The Texas Rangers fell to division rival Oakland A’s in 10 innings Thursday at the Ballpark in Arlington.

As has been the case lately, the Rangers fell behind early.  Oakland’s first 5 batters got on base, resulting in a 3-0 lead to start the game.  Texas starting pitcher Matt Harrison then settled down and held the A’s scoreless for the next 5 innings.  In all, Harrison went 5 1/3 innings, giving up 8 hits and striking out 3.

The Rangers battled back to tie the game on the bat of 1st baseman Mitch Moreland.  Moreland blasted a 2-run home run in the 4th inning and followed with a game-tying solo shot in the 6th.  The Rangers took the lead later in the inning when Craig Gentry scored on an Elvis Andrus bunt.

The A’s tied the game when Alexi Ogando gave up a home run to Josh Reddick.

In the 10th inning, Rangers reliever Mike Adams gave up 3 hits which allowed Oakland to score the winning run.

Texas superstar Josh Hamilton was scheduled to sit out the game for rest, but came in as a pinch hitter.  Hamilton went 0-2, bringing an end to his 16 game hitting streak.

Also coming into the game was Branden Snyder, pinch hitting for Moreland who was 2 for 2, both being home runs.  Snyder went 0-2, including a ground out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th inning.

The Rangers travel to Houston on Friday to begin interleague play with the Astros.
