Rangers Lose To Rays

Rangers pitcher Alexi Ogando had another bad night and the Texas batters struggled to do anything as the Texas Rangers lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 on Wednesday night.

Ogando could go just 2 2/3 innings as he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits for his 7th loss of the season.  It was the second time in the month that he could not go 3 innings.

The Rangers bullpen was called on to work 6 1/3 innings, and gave up just 1 run on a home run by Johnny Damon off Koji Uehara in the 7th inning.

Twice Texas put the tying run at the plate in an apparent rally, but fell short on both occasions.  Elvis Andrus was the only Ranger to have multiple hits, going 2-for-4.

The lone Texas run came in the bottom of the ninth when Michael Young scored on a single by David Murphy.

The Rangers remain 3 1/2 games ahead of the Angels, who also lost Wednesday night.  Texas will close out the series with the Rays tonight at the Ballpark in Arlington.
