Rangers Lose To White Sox

The Texas Rangers continue to struggle against the Chicago White Sox as they lose 5-2 on Saturday. The Rangers are down 0-2 in the series and lead the Athletics by 3 1/2 games in the American League West standings.

The Rangers continue to suffer with bringing in players who are in scoring position. Something that has haunted them this whole season. The Rangers were 0-13 in today’s game when they had a runner in scoring position. Manager Ron Washington knows that this is an obstacle that the Rangers have to overcome in order to have success in the season and postseason.

“It just tells you if we start swinging the bats with runners in scoring position, it will turn around for us,” manager Ron Washington said. “That’s what’s killing us right now.”

Matt Harrison was the starting pitcher for the Rangers and had an unusual game as he gave up seven hits and five runs in seven innings of play. Harrison finished with four strikeouts in the loss. He is now 12-6 for the season.

The Rangers were held to only five hits against pitcher Philip Humber of the White Sox. Catcher Mike Napoli lead the Rangers in a comeback attempt after hitting his 16th home run of the season in the fifth inning. Napoli finished with a hit, a run and two RBI’s in the game and also had a ground out which led to the Rangers second score in the ninth inning.

“Offensively we could be better … that’s it,” second baseman Ian Kinsler said. “We know we’re good. We know what we’ve done in the past. We know we’ve been the best offense in the league the past few years. We all know what it’s like when we’re clicking. We just have to get back to it.”

The Rangers look to avoid the sweep when they take on the White Sox in Arlington. First pitch is on Sunday at 6:05 p.m.
