Rangers need 11 innings to get past Royals

The Texas Rangers got a big hit by Adrian Beltre to score two runners and defeat the Kansas City Royals 5-4 in 11 innings.

Texas had a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning after Elvis Andrus connected with an RBI single.  Rangers closer Neftali Feliz, who had not lost a save attempt since August, came in for the bottom of the 9th.  Feliz gave up a game-tying home run to Eric Hosmer, blowing the save opportunity.

The Rangers get 3 walks to start the 11th inning, setting up the eventual game winning hit by Beltre which scored Endy Chavez and Ian Kinsler.

Arthur Rhodes gets the win, with Mark Lowe earning the save.

Endy Chavez continues with his hot bat, going 2 for 3 while batting leadoff for the Rangers.  Andres Blanco went 2 for 4 while starting at shortstop.  Michael Young’s road hitting streak came to an end.  Young was 0 for 2, with 3 walks.

Texas and Kansas City resume tonight in Kansas City.
