Rangers Power Past Angels

The Texas Rangers transformed into the Power Rangers on Saturday against division rival Los Angeles.  Texas hit 5 home runs on the way to a 9-2 win over the Angels.

The Rangers got on board in the opening inning, with Elvis Andrus scoring on a Michael Young single as part of a 3-hit inning.

Texas began the 2nd inning with back to back home runs by Mike Napoli and Yorvit Torrealba.  Craig Gentry and Ian Kinsler each followed up with doubles to give the Rangers 4 straight multiple-base hits.  Adrian Beltre would cap the 5-run inning with a home run.

The Rangers weren’t finished, as Mike Napoli hit his 2nd homer of the game in the 3rd inning.  Texas would score 2 more in the 8th inning on Ian Kinsler’s home run.

Starting pitcher Yu Darvish struck out 11 in the game while giving up just 3 hits in 7 innings.  Darvish improves to 11-6 on the season.

The Rangers have a 6 game lead over the Angels in the AL West.   They will close out the series against the Angels tonight before returning home for a series with Boston on Monday.
