Rangers ready for longest homestand of the year

The Texas Rangers will host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Kansas City Royals, and the Toronto Blue Jays on a ten-game homestand that runs from April 18-28. This matches the Rangers’ longest homestand of 2011 (also August 22-September 1).

The American League West Division rival Angels open the homestand with three 7:05 p.m. games, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, April 18-20. All fans attending the homestand opener on Monday will receive a Claw and Antler Cap presented by FOX Sports Southwest and Progressive.

The Royals follow for a three-game weekend series, Friday and Saturday, April 22-23 at 7:05 p.m. and Easter Sunday, April 24 at 2:05 p.m. April 22 is the first Verizon Wireless Fireworks Friday of 2011 with $10.00 tickets in the Lexus Club Terrace, Upper Box, and Upper Reserved seating areas as well as $5 cash parking in all Rangers lots. Prior to the game, current Royals Jeff Francoeur and Matt Treanor will receive their 2010 A.L. Championship rings in an on-field ceremony. The Rangers will also honor Jackie Robinson’s historic debut in the major leagues 64 years ago on Friday evening.

The Rangers will recognize several 2010 outstanding performances prior to Saturday’s game. Josh Hamilton will

receive his Silver Bat for winning the 2010 A.L. batting title and will join Adrian Beltre in being presented 2010 A.L. Silver Slugger Awards. Hamilton will also be honored with the 2010 Players Choice Award as the A.L.’s Outstanding Player. Following the game, KC and the Sunshine Band will perform in concert on the North Lawn. Fans with a ticket to Saturday’s Rangers-Royals game can attend the concert at no additional charge.

On Sunday, the first 10,000 youngsters, 13 and under receive Easter Eggs that contains coupons good for special Rangers Ballpark in Arlington discounts and other prizes.

Toronto closes the homestand with a four game series, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, April 25-27 at 7:05 p.m. and Thursday, April 28 at 1:05 p.m. All fans receive an Adrian Beltre T-shirt presented by Sweet Baby Ray’s on Monday. In-park fan balloting to select the starting lineups for the 2011 All-Star Game begins on Thursday, April 27. Rangers manager Ron Washington will lead the A.L. All-Stars in the July 12 game at Chase Field in Phoenix.
