Rangers Rout Red Sox

The Texas Rangers start the season 2-0 for just the 2nd time in the last 11 years as they routed the Boston Red Sox 12-5 Saturday night.

Ian Kinsler made major league history by becoming the 1st player ever to lead off the first two games of the season with home runs.  In addition to Kinsler, Adrian Beltre, Yorvit Torrealba, and Nelson Cruz each homered for the Rangers.   “We can swing the bat,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “We’re not going to get 10, 12, 15 hits every night, but there is always somebody in this lineup who can get you. As long as we continue to pitch, we’ll be fine.”

Eight of the nine Rangers had at least 1 hit as they connected for 15 on the night, most coming off Red Sox starter John Lackey, who lasted less than 4 innings.

Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis gave up 6 hits in 6 innings to pick up the win.

Texas will try to sweep the series today at 1:05pm.
