Rangers Shutout Indians

The Texas Rangers won their 3rd straight against the Cleveland Indians with a 4-0 shutout on Saturday night.  Texas starter Derek Holland pitched a complete game, allowing just 5 hits.  He improves to 5-1 on the season.

Holland, a native of Ohio, was happy to pitch well close to home.  “It’s definitely a great feeling,” said Holland. “It’s comparable to the shutout I threw against the Angels in my rookie season but this is the best feeling I’ve ever had in my career. This was in front of my whole family, not just a few family members.”

Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz again provided the Rangers offense, each belting a 2-run home run.  Hamilton’s shot in the 1st inning gave the Rangers the early lead while Cruz put the game away in the 7th.

Texas has won 10 of the last 13 games, feeding off the energy provided by the return of Hamilton and Cruz from the disabled list.  The Rangers now have a 2 1/2 game lead over Seattle in the AL West.

The Rangers close out the series with Cleveland today at noon.
