Rangers shutout Phillies

The Texas Rangers finally found out how to beat Philadelphia – shut them down.  After two consecutive losses in Philadelphia despite quality pitching, the Rangers finally won with great pitching.   Matt Harrison went 8 1/3 innings, giving up no runs on just 5 hits to get the win.

The Texas offense still struggled, scoring only 2 runs on 9 hits.  Elvis Andrus, David Murphy, and Adrian Beltre each got 2 hits against the Phillies.

Neftali Feliz came in to earn the save, his 9th of the season.

Rangers manager Ron Washington was happy with the win, “You never want to get swept. For two days we battled and they just outplayed us in the sense they put more runs on the board. Today it was reversed and today, at least the plane ride home will be better and hopefully we can gain some momentum and get home and get some things going.”

Texas hopes to regain it’s offensive firepower when Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz return to the lineup from the disabled list.

The Rangers will host the Chicago White Sox beginning Monday.
