Rangers take series opener in New York

The Texas Rangers defeated the New York Yankees 5-3 in New York Friday night.  Texas has now won 9 of the last 12 against the Yankees.

Matt Harrison moved to 3-0 on the season with a 7-hit, 8-inning outing, giving up just 2 runs, 1 of them earned.  Harrison was helped by the Rangers turning a club record 6 double plays. 

Michael Young also made club history with his 353rd career double.  Young passes Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez for the club mark.

Reliever Neftali Feliz earned his 5th save, although giving up a run on 2 hits in the bottom of the 9th.

The series continues on Saturday.
