Rangers Top Tigers

The Texas Rangers rallied from behind to defeat the Detroit Tigers 7-5 on Tuesday. With the win, the Rangers evened the series and look to take the series on Wednesday.

The main worry about pitcher Yu Darvish was how he would adjust to the Texas summer weather that can easily jump to three digits. Darvish put the worry aside as he had an outstanding performance finishing strong after giving up two runs in the first inning. Darvish finished with 10 strikeouts and gave up only 4 hits and 4 runs in 7 innings. The right handed pitcher’s is now 7-0 in Arlington and received his tenth win for the season.

The Rangers bats came alive in the fourth inning getting 4 runs to take a 5-3 lead. Josh Hamilton hit his 24th home run in the seventh inning to put seal the game for the Rangers. This is Hamilton’s second straight night with a home run, and he is tied for most home runs in MLB. Hamilton recorded a hit, a run and an RBI for the game. Ian Kinsler also had his first home run in a game since June 8 against the Giants. He finished with 2 hits, a run and an RBI.

Drew Smyly was the starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. Smyly gave up 8 hits and 6 runs before being retired in 4 2/3 innings. The Tigers offense was led by Prince Fielder. He had 4 RBIs, 2 hits and his 12th home run in the fourth inning despite the loss.

The Rangers look forward to getting a 2-1 series win when they take on the Tigers in Arlington on Wednesday. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
