Rangers Win In L.A.

The Texas Rangers opened the 4-game road series with rival L.A. Angels with an 8-4 win to generate a 5-game lead for the AL West.

Texas used a 6-run 5th inning to blow the game open and give starting pitcher Alexi Ogando his 12th win of the year against just 5 losses.  Ogando did not have his best stuff on the mound, but hung in for 6 1/3 innings before letting the bullpen close the deal.  The Rangers’ bullpen has allowed just 1 run in the last 7 games.

Offensively, Ian Kinsler led the way, extending his hitting streak to 7 games.  Kinsler went 4-for-5, scoring 3 times.  Michael Young also had a big night, going 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and scoring once.  Nelson Cruz and Mike Napoli each hit home runs in the 5th inning.

Texas will try to extend it’s lead over L.A. tonight in Anaheim.
