Red Sox Rout Rangers Again

The slumping Texas Rangers fell behind 4-0 in the first inning to the Boston Red Sox and things got worse from there.  The score was 6-0 before Mike Napoli hit his 22nd home run to put the Rangers on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth.  Boston kept the pressure on, eventually building a 13-1 lead before Elvis Andrus scores on Napoli’s second hit of the night.  The final score was Boston 13, Texas 2.

Boston has scored 24 runs in the last two games against the Rangers, who have now lost 5 of the last 7.  While the Rangers are losing, they are seeing their AL West lead over the Angels drop to 2 1/2 games as the Angels have won 6 straight.

Rangers pitcher Matt Harrison gave up 7 runs in 5 innings to drop his record to 10-9.  “If you play a team like that, you’ve got to match their pitching,” said Rangers manager Ron Washington. “If you don’t, the game will get away from you, and it got away from us tonight.”

Texas will finish the series with the Red Sox tonight before hosting the Angels for the weekend.
