RoughRiders Lose 3rd Straight

FRISCO, TEXAS – The Frisco RoughRiders dropped game two against the Corpus Christi Hooks 7-1 Thursday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler made his first rehab start with Frisco as the ‘Riders lost their third straight.

Jonathan Myer led off the second with a hard-hit double to left field. Corpus Christi (41-25) then took a 2-0 lead off a home run to left-center by Michael Burgess.

The RoughRiders (37-29) responded in the second. Leading off the frame, Alex Buchholz slammed a solo shot off the left-field fair pole, closing the Hooks’ lead 2-1.

In the third, Jonathan Singleton slammed a leadoff home run over the pool in right field. Two batters later, Erik Castro knocked a solo shot to right field. Singleton slammed a two-run homer in the fourth, and then

Castro led off the fifth with a double to right and was brought home on a single by Enrique Hernandez, extending the Hooks lead 7-1.

Kinsler made his first rehab start as the designated hitter for the ‘Riders, and went 0-for-4 with two flyouts and two strikeouts. He will make two more rehab appearances with Frisco Friday and Saturday.

Hooks starter Nick Tropeano (2-4) went five innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out three to earn the win. Carlos Pimentel (7-3) allowed seven runs off ten hits and striking out four in five innings, suffering the defeat. Bobby Doran pitched four scoreless innings to be credited with his second save.

The RoughRiders continue their series with the Corpus Christi Hooks Friday at 7:05 p.m. as Dr Pepper Ballpark. Tyler Tufts (1-1, 3.79 ERA) makes the start for the ‘Riders against Hooks’ right-hander Jorge De Leon (0-1, 5.33 ERA).
