Samarrippas Leads SMU Over Tulsa

SMU’s Jeremiah Samarrippas hit a jumper at the buzzer to win the game for the Mustangs against Tulsa Saturday night.  It is the first time since joining C-USA that SMU has won it’s conference opener.

SMU had a season-low 7 turnovers and forced 17 Tulsa turnovers for a 15-point difference.  The defense held its opponent to 65 or less in regulation for the 14th time in 15 games.

Robert Nyakundi led SMU with 14 points, the 13th time this season he has scored in double-digits.  London Giles scored 11 for the Mustangs and grabbed 4 rebounds.  Samarrippas added 8 points, with 4 assists and 4 rebounds.

SMU returns to action Wednesday, hosting Rice at Moody Coliseum.
