Scott Dixon Becomes All-Time IndyCar Winner

Scott Dixon wins the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. By doing so, he becomes the all-time winningest driver in IndyCar Series history.  Dixon’s 20 career victories moves him ahead of Sam Hornish, Jr., who is now competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Dixon also moves into 1st place in the 2009 points standings, now leading by 3 points over Ryan Briscoe after 13 of 17 races.

The Honda Indy 200 at Mid Ohio was the first road course to utilize the new rules IRL has installed to make the races more competitive. Among those, the new “push to pass” button. The system provides an extra 200 RPM (for a total of 10,500) and a 5-20 horsepower gain, dependent upon fuel setting for a duration calibrated on a race-to-race basis by Honda Performance Development. The benefits were not as obvious on the road course as on the Kentucky oval last week.

Rounding out the top 5 were Ryan Briscoe, Dario Franchitti, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Hideki Mutoh.
