SMU BB Improves to 5-0

The SMU Mustangs are off to their best start since 1997 with an 83-70 win over Rider to improve to 5-0.

The Mustangs started the game on a 9-0 run and never trailed.  It is the first time since 2005-2006 that SMU has scored 80 or more points in consecutive games.  

SMU outrebounded Rider 32-23.  The Mustangs have outrebounded every opponent this season.  

Ryan Manuel scored his first career double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds.  Cannen Cunningham added a career-high 20 points.

Jalen Jones scored 15 points.  Jones has scored in double figures in every game this season.

Nick Russell was 4-4 from 3-point distance, giving him 12 points.  The Mustangs were 8-11 from 3-point range in the game.

SMU travels to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to play Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday in the Hoops for Hope Classic.
