SMU Rocks Memphis For Homecoming

The SMU Mustangs rolled past Memphis 44-13 Saturday to cap homecoming week.

SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert threw for a career-high 353 yards, completing 25 of 35 attempts.  For the first time this season, Gilbert was interception-free.  Gilbert connected with Darius Johnson for a 70-yards in the 3rd quarter to set up the first of his two rushing touchdowns.

Zach Line ran for 127 yards, passing Craig James for 3rd place in SMU history for career yards.  Line entered the game 4th in NCAA among active players.  It is his 20th career game of 100 or more yards rushing, trailing only Eric Dickerson (28) in school history.

Linebacker Taylor Reed had 5 solo tackles.  Reed entered the game 2nd in the NCAA among active players for solo tackles.

SMU has won 3 games at home this season by 30 or more points (52-0 vs SFA, 72-42 vs Houston, 44-13 vs Memphis).  The Mustangs improve to 3-1 in C-USA, trailing Tulsa (5-0).  

SMU forced 2 turnovers, they entered the game leading the NCAA in takeaways with 25.

The Mustangs held Memphis to just 202 offensive yards and 9 first downs.

SMU travels to UCF on Saturday for another conference matchup.
