SMU Rower Named To C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas (SMU) – Lauren Hadaway was named to the Conference USA Rowing All-Academic Team, conference officials announced Thursday. The senior has a 3.89 GPA in Cinema Television with a minor in business administration and marketing, earning the accolade for the first time.

A native of Red Oak, Texas, Hadaway led the 1st Varsity 8+ to a pair of wins in six races during the spring season, as well as a fourth-place finish at the San Diego Crew Classic. She also earned a victory in the 2nd Varsity 8+.

Hadaway has earned three C-USA Academic Medals, and has been named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll all three years. She has earned distinction on the SMU Honor Roll in each of her seven semesters, including three with high distinction.

The SMU rowing team will compete in the Conference USA Championships on Saturday, May 14, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The preliminary heats will begin at 9 a.m. EDT on the 2,000-meter course on Melton Hill Lake. The Mustangs will compete against C-USA members Tulsa and UCF and affiliate members Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas for the championship. Alabama is not competing as a result of the recent storms in Tuscaloosa.
