GENEVA, Ohio (SMU) – SMU senior Mary Alenbratt set the school record in the mile run, posting a time of 4:43.05, as the Mustangs had another productive weekend at the SPIRE Institute Invite in preparation for the Conference USA Indoor Championships.

Alenbratt became the second Mustang to break a school record in as many events, after Stephanie Kalu snagged the top mark in the 60 meter dash with a 7.37 on Jan. 25 at Houston.

Elizabeth Murphy took second in the weight throw, setting a new C-USA high with a mark of 20.34m. That result is also the 15th-best mark in the NCAA this season and second all-time at SMU.

Numerous other personal bests were set, including Ashlee Powers in the 5000 meter run (16:48.30), Karoline Skatteboe in the mile run (4:48.04) and Rachel Scruggs in the 400 meter run (56.06).

Next up for the Mustangs is the C-USA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 23-24.
