SMU Swim Team Falls To No. 2 Texas

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men’s swimming and diving team was defeated by No. 2 Texas, 154-127, in a dual meet Friday night at Perkins Natatorium. With the loss, SMU moves to 1-1 in dual meets this season.

Junior Mindaugas Sadauskas was once again the Mustangs’ top performer. The sprint freestyle specialist took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.59 and the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 44.59. He also led the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a first-place finish, touching the wall in 1:22.22.

Sophomore Matthew Napier-Jameson won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:09.38.

Freshman diver Devin Burnett continued his strong season for the Mustangs, placing first in the three-meter dive (360.00) and second in the one-meter event (348.75).

Nicolai Hansen (100-yard breaststroke, 56.99), David Larsson (100-yard butterfly, 48.60) and Matt Roney (200-yard butterfly, 1:56.30) all had runner-up finishes for SMU.

The Mustangs compete at the Houston Invitational Nov. 17-19.
