Junior forward Semi Ojeleye scored 23 points, and SMU handed local rival TCU its first loss of the season 74-59 Wednesday at Moody Coliseum in Dallas.
Ojeleye also grabbed seven rebounds and hit a deep 3-pointer to put away the Horned Frogs, who had won their first eight games under new coach Jamie Dixon. Sophomore guard Shake Milton finished with 17 points and also hit some big shots for the Mustangs (7-3) in the second half.

Junior forward Vladimir Brodziansky came off the bench to score 12 points, and freshman guard Jaylen Fisher added 10 points for the Horned Frogs (8-1). Sophomore guard Alex Robinson had a double-double off the bench for TCU with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
SMU led 33-28 at halftime. It was only the second time all season that the Horned Frogs trailed at intermission. They made multiple challenges in the second half but couldn’t catch the Mustangs.
TCU’s Brandon Parrish hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 48-45 with 9:36 to play. Ojeleye answered with a three-point play to stop the Frogs’ run, and Milton hit a 3-pointer five minutes later to put the Mustangs up by 11.
Senior forward Ben Moore and sophomore guard Jarrey Foster each added 11 point for the Mustangs, who had four players in double figures.
The Horned Frogs have three more nonconference tune-ups before opening Big 12 play against No. 3 Kansas on Dec. 30. TCU hosts Wofford on Saturday.
SMU hosts McNeese State on Dec. 14 and also has a nonconference test against Stanford before beginning American Athletic Conference play. The Mustangs open conference play at Memphis on Dec. 27.
Former President Georgia W. Bush and former UK Prime Minister David Cameron were in attendance at Wednesday’s game in Dallas.
