SMU Tops Utah

The SMU Mustangs under coach Larry Brown are off to their best start since 2006.  With a 62-55 victory over Utah Wednesday night at Moody Coliseum, the Mustangs improve their record to 7-1, including 4-0 at home.

SMU was led by Jalen Jones, with his first double-double of the season.  Jones scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds.  Jones leads the team in scoring with 16 points per game.

Center Cannen Cunningham set career-high marks with 4 blocks and 4 steals.  He snatched 8 rebounds and scored 8 points.

Ryan Manuel scored 14 points to get into double figures for the 5th time this season.  Manuel was 6-6 from the free throw line.  Forward Shawn Williams also got into double figures with 10 points.

Guard Nick Russell tied a career-high with 8 assists.

The Mustangs travel to New York to take on Hofstra on Saturday.  Tip-off is set for 3:00pm.
