SMU Track highest among non-BCS schools

NEW ORLEANS (SMU) — The SMU track and field team moved up three spots to rank No. 17 in the latest USTFCCCA team computer rankings. The Mustangs have accumulated 109.69 points in the index and are the highest ranked non-BCS school.

SMU’s throwers have started the season strong by gathering two of the first three Conference USA Athlete of the Week Awards. Last week at the Bobby Lane Invitational, junior Simone Du Toit posted the second-best discus throw in the nation this season with a 58.81 meter mark. Earlier this year, teammate Ayla Gill notched the 11th nationally ranked hammer throw (61.70 meters) at the TCU Invitational.

This weekend the Mustangs travel to Austin, Texas to participate in the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas.
