SMU W-Soccer Announces 2011 Schedule

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women’s soccer head coach Brent Erwin announced the Mustangs’ 2011 schedule today. In 2010, the Ponies posted an 11-7-4 mark and advanced to the Conference USA semifinals.

SMU begins the 2011 season at Arkansas on Aug. 19. The team returns home Aug. 22 for the home opener against Stephen F. Austin and an Aug. 26 tilt against NCAA First Round team UT-San Antonio.

The Mustangs face a tough stretch of road games starting with a contest at NCAA Tournament qualifier Oklahoma on Aug. 28, followed by a battle with cross-town rival North Texas on Sept. 2 in Denton. Sept. 9-11, the squad is in California for games at UCLA and Loyola-Marymount. UCLA advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

Sept. 18, SMU hosts Prairie View A&M before settling in to conference play.

C-USA action starts with four consecutive matches at Westcott Field. SMU faces C-USA regular season champs UCF Sept. 23, who ended SMU’s season last year with a win over the Mustangs in the C-USA semifinals. SMU hosts Southern Miss Sept. 25. The Mustangs play Rice and Houston the following weekend with games Sept. 30 and Oct. 2, respectively.

The Ponies play at C-USA Tournament champs Memphis on Oct. 7, before traveling to Alabama to take on UAB on Oct. 9. Marshall comes to Dallas on Oct. 14. The Mustangs play East Carolina Oct. 16 in the home finale at Westcott Field.

SMU closes out the season with three road games; at Colorado College on Oct. 21, at UTEP on Oct. 23 and at Tulsa on Oct. 28.

The Conference USA Championship is Nov. 2-6 in Memphis, Tenn.
