SMU W-Tennis: No. 9 Marta Lesniak Named C-USA Player Of The Week
IRVING, Texas (SMU/C-USA) – Ninth-ranked Marta Lesniak has been named the Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Week. Lesniak went undeafeated as she powered the Mustangs to three wins during the stretch, downing No. 61 TCU before moving on to defeat league-foes No. 62 Rice and Houston. Playing at the top singles position, she won all of her sets en route to the perfect weekend and bettered her singles win streak to 15 matches.

Ninth-ranked Lesniak went 6-0 in last week’s action as she led SMU to a win against No. 61 TCU in a cross-town rivalry match as well as two Conference USA victories at No. 62 Rice and at Houston. Her three singles victories, each at the top spot, were all in straight sets as she improved to 19-2 in dual competition this season. Lesniak has won 15 straight and has totaled 37 wins on the season, which ranks third in a season at SMU. Her 80 career singles victories rank fifth at SMU. In doubles, Lesniak and Aleksandra Malyarchikova won all three matches handily, not giving up more than three games to an opponent. With her performance on the courts, Lesniak earns the fourth honor of her junior campaign and the ninth recognition of her career.
