SMU Women Rally To Beat Prairie View A&M

DALLAS (SMU)— Kiara Perry scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds en route to SMU’s, 61-54, victory over the Prairie View A&M Panthers Tuesday night at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs are now 3-1 overall, while the Panthers fall to 2-2.

Trailing, 45-42, with 4:05 left to play in the fourth quarter, McKenzie Adams nailed the first three pointer of the night for the Mustangs, tying the game for the first time since 8:29 left to play in the second period. Adams followed up with another three-point play the next possession, sinking the lay-up and the free-throw, to give SMU the three point lead and the first lead since the end of the first quarter. After several minutes of back-to-back play, a Prairie View A&M jumper gave the Panthers a two point lead. However, Alicia Froling quickly answered with a fast break layup from a Perry assist, tying the game, 54-54. Mikayla Reese hit a jumper just inside the arc, assisted by Morgan Bolton, to give SMU the lead with exactly one minute remaining in the game. SMU would never trail again. Bolton added a three-pointer and two free throws with less than 30 seconds left in the game to close out the third victory of the season.
