SMU’s Collin Mangrum Named To C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas (SMU/C-USA) – SMU senior Collin Mangrum has been named to the 2011 Conference USA Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team for his achievements in the classroom and on the court. Mangrum as well as four juniors were represented on the honorary list, where nominees must hold a minimum 3.2 GPA, be a starter or key reserve for their team and be of sophomore academic standing.

SMU senior Collin Mangrum rounds out the 2011 All-Academic team with a 3.850 GPA. Pursuing his Masters in Dispute Resolution, he has started in 13 of the 27 games that he’s seen action, moving further into a starting position as league play progressed. He averages 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Below is a complete list of the honorees, with all competing in the 2011 Buick C-USA Men’s Basketball

Mangrum is the third Mustang to earn the honor in SMU’s six seasons in Conference USA. Jon Killen earned selections in 2007 and 2008 while Donatas Rackauskas also made the academic squad in 2007.

Mangrum as well as fellow SMU seniors Papa Dia, Ryan Harp, Tomasz Kwiatkowski, Myles Luttman and Mike Walker play their final regular-season home game on Saturday as the Mustangs host UTEP at 2 p.m. The seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony at Moody Coliseum.
