IRVING, Texas (SMU) – Caroline Young and Courtney Manning were named to the Conference USA All-Conference team, league officials announced Tuesday. Young was named to the first team after finishing the conference schedule in the top 10 in kills, and Manning, who is third all-time in C-USA history with 369 career blocks and hold the SMU record in career and single season blocks, was named to the second team.

Young, a sophomore from Brenham, Texas, led the Mustangs in kills in 16 of 28 matches and had at least 20 kills in seven matches, including a career-high 26 kills in a 3-1 win at UCF. She is averaging 3.34 kills per set for the season, and ranks eighth in C-USA matches with 3.23 per set. The outside hitter also had 23 kills and a career-high 18 digs against Army for the first double-double of her career. Young ranks 16th in the NCAA and is second in C-USA with 46 aces, and ranks 20th in the NCAA with a C-USA best 0.43 aces per set. She was named to the All-Freshmen Team last season.

Manning, a senior from Mesquite, Texas, has 94 blocks this season, needing just six to reach 100 in all four seasons, and broke the school blocks record, which was previously 530 career blocks. She is third all-time in C-USA history with 569 career blocks, needing nine to climb to second. The conference record is 593 blocks. Manning is sixth in C-USA this season, hitting .305, and has a school-record .285 attack percentage for her career. She scored a career-high 16 kills against Arkansas-Little Rock this season, and has 929 kills in her career. This is the third all-conference award for Manning.

The Mustangs take on No. 1 seed Tulsa in the first round of the C-USA Championship Friday at noon in Tulsa, Okla. SMU took the three-time regular season champion to five sets on its home floor earlier this season, but were unable to take the victory after sweeping the Golden Hurricane last season.
