Stars Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

The Dallas Stars defeated the L.A. Kings 5-1 Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center.  It is the 3rd straight win for the Stars, who are 2 points behind Detroit for the final playoff spot.

Dallas scored 4 goals in the 3rd period to turn a tie game into a rout.  Ray Whitney and Vernon Fiddler each scored twice for the Stars in the final period.  Alex Goligoski scored the opening goal for Dallas in the 1st period.

Backup goaltender Richard Bachman saved all 22 shots he faced after relieving Kari Lehtonen who left the game in the 1st period with a lower-body injury.  

Dallas travels to Nashville Friday night to take on the Predators.
