Stars lose to Islanders 5-4

The Dallas Stars lost 5-4 to the NY Islanders Saturday night at the American Airlines Center.  

The Stars fell behind 3-0 before making a furious rally to tie the game early in the 2nd period.  The Stars scored three goals in the span of 2:03, the fastest this season. The fastest three-goals in franchise history occurred on Oct. 14, 1995 vs. Boston – 44 seconds.  Dallas’ three goals scored in the second period marked the fourth time this season they have scored three in one period. They are now 3-1-0 in those games.

The teams traded goals before Islander Matt Moulson hit his 4th goal of the night to win the game.

The Stars had three players score their first goals of the season tonight: Tomas Vincour, Jake Dowell, Tom Wandell.

Eric Nystrom’s goal streak is now at three games. He has five goals in his last five games, and 10 goals in 21 games overall as a Dallas Star. The 10 goals are tied with Loui Eriksson for the team-lead.

Stephane Robidas has a three-game assist streak (0g 3a). Mike Ribeiro now has five assists in his last seven games.  Vernon Fiddler now has a three-game assists streak (0g, 3a). Toby Petersen now has an assist in consecutive games for the first time this season (0g, 2a).

Dallas drops to 15-10-1 and will begin a 5-game road trip in San Jose Thursday night.
