Stars Use Shootout To Get L.A. Win

The Dallas Stars took a 2-0 lead late in the opening period against the Los Angeles Kings Thursday night.  Loui Eriksson and Eric Nystrom each made goals in the 15th minute.  The Kings would close the gap with a power-play goal in the 2nd period, but the Stars would again take a two-shot lead on a slapshot by Alex Goligoski.

The Kings would come roaring back, scoring 3 unanswered goals, 2 of them on power plays, to take a 4-3 lead in the final period.

Loui Eriksson would come up big for the Stars again, scoring on a power play to tie the game at 4.  Eriksson would also score the winning goal for the Stars in the shootout, making the final score 5-4.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen saved 37 of 41 shots in the game.

The game was marred by penalties.  There were 5 roughing penalties, 2 each for tripping, hooking, and slashing.  A pair of fighting majors.  Unsportsmanlike conduct, game misconduct, instigator, and charging were all called in the game.

This was the first time in 7 games that Dallas has given up a power-play goal.

Dallas returns to the ice Saturday to host Colorado at the American Airlines Center.
