About the Stars

The Stars are coming off a 5-2 to loss against the Winnipeg Jets at the American Airlines Center Tuesday.  The Stars will look for better play overall Saturday night when they host the New Jersey Devils, who continue to struggle to score.  Dallas has dropped five of six while allowing five goals in each loss. Tyler Seguin scored his league leading 22nd goal and 8 in 8  games Tuesday.

Alex Goligoski (undisclosed injury) practiced on Friday and is in for tomorrow’s game. Forward Travis Moen who skated prior to practice Friday but won’t play Saturday. He sustained an upper body injury in the loss to the Jets on Tuesday. Ryan Garbutt will also begin serving a three-game suspension for slew-footing incident against Jet’s Dustin Byfuglien. 

Saturday’s game concludes a three-game homestand for the Stars. 

Injuries: RW Patrick Eaves (ankle), RW Valeri Nichushkin (hip), D Patrick Nemeth (Wrist), Ryan Garbutt (suspension) and Travis Moen (upper body) are out.

About the Devils

The New Jersey Devils are coming off a 4-1 road loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday after they

were held to 18 shots. They have scored 12 goals during a 2-4-1 stretch and have been one of the league’s lowest-scoring team with 2.3 per game. They are 29th with 26.0 shots per contest, their lowest mark since averaging 25.7 in 1982-83.  Former Stars Jaromir Jagr and Michael Ryder will return to the American Airlines Center to face their former team.

Michael Cammalleri, the team leader with 11 goals, had one shot after missing two games with a lower-body injury and came within inches of a lengthy stay on the injury list. Forward Dainius Zubrus is expected to miss his second straight game with a left leg laceration sustained in a game Monday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Forward Damien Brunner parted ways with the Devils and they agreed to terminate his contract. He has signed a deal to play for HC Lugan in Switzerland. 

Saturday’s game concludes a stretch of three straight on the road for the Devils, who have played 19 of their first 30 games away from home. Corey Schneider is expected to start in goal for the Devils. 

Injuries: Dainius Zubrus (leg), Travis Zajac (Mumps), Adam Larsson (mumps), Patrick Elias (Groin), Bryce Salvador (lower body), Ryanne Clowe (head) are out.

SERIES NOTES

This is the second and final meeting between the Stars and Devils this season.
