The Dallas Stars won their third game in a row Friday night at the American Airlines Center. The Stars 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks moves them into third place in the Pacific Division, 2 points behind the Ducks and the San Jose Sharks.
Dallas struck quickly, scoring twice on power play goals in the first period. Trevor Daley opened the scoring with a slap shot at 8:48, followed by Jamie Benn scoring with a wrist shot 4 minutes later. Benn remarked the fast start was part of the plan, “We wanted to get on them early. They’re obviously a good team and on a bit of a hot streak, so we wanted to go right after them and not give them any confidence and use our home building as an advantage.”
Anaheim pulled within 1 when Nick Bonino deflected a Luca Sbisa shot into the net past goalkeeper Kari Lehtonen.
Loui Eriksson put the game away with a wrist shot in the 3rd period.
The Stars travel back to Edmonton on Wednesday where they beat the Oilers in overtime last week.
